Three Out of Four Ain’t Bad

Added by Keith Long on 20th May, 2011 |

Hopes were high that Beechfield United’s Saturday Morning Team would achieve a trophy winning treble but unfortunately the dream was shattered when they suffered a 4-1 defeat to Manchester Medics in final of the Manchester Evening News Cup. But the Beechy lads still had enough reasons to celebrate following a tremendous season and some top-class performances from a hard working and talented squad were justly rewarded.

Manchester Saturday Morning Football League Second Division champions plus CFFL Shield winners and promotion to the First Division is a superb and proud achievement. Roy Owen received the Golden Boot Award (Leading Goalscorer in the Second Division) and Manager Graham Rothwell was voted Team Secretary of the Year.

United’s Second Division record is as follows:- P18  W16  D0  L2  Goals For 65  Goals Against 18  Points 48.
