Beechy Under 9′s Hurricanes – 2009/2010

Added by Jay Roche on 28th May, 2010 |

Well done to all the team this season – we’ve won around half the games we’ve played and only been beaten by 3 teams in the league, 2 of which won all of the games they played. For our first year I feel that this is an amazing achievement for a bunch of lads who came together at the very start of the season, with no real pre-season training or match experience. Read more…

Junior Managers triumph over Under 15′s

Added by Phil Lockett on 23rd May, 2010 |

Thursday night saw the junior managers play the chairmans u 15s team, in a warm up game for the 30th anniversary match against the mini managers.

The u15s started well and took an early lead when they  converted a spot kick following a great one handed save from dave whatton, pity dave wasnt in nets at the time, anyhow this inspired the managers into action and it wasnt long before we drew level, shanes neat pass to  graham rothwell ended up in the bottom corner, The u15s took the lead again following a rare mistake from andy greenalgh who misjudged a shot/pass which ended up going in off the post, The u15s took control of the game and threatened to extend their lead only for andy to produce a gordon banks type one handed save onto the bar, the heat was taking its toll on the managers  and reinforcments were called for ,up stepped ANDY WILSON , who quickly brought us level, further reinforcments at half time saw lee wallis enter the field to hold the flagging midfield together, spraying passes around like a true pro and it wasnt long before andy wilson grabbed his 2nd to put us 3-2 up. the u15s were now the ones who,d ran out of ideas and the managers extended their lead further with a fine header at the back post, late in the game some dodgy referring saw the under 15s given a 2nd penalty which was scored by chris davenport. ft 4-3

Next thursday night sees the mini managers do battle with the u15′s in preparation for the big game sun 6th june at Beechfarm

Many thanks to Shane and his team for a great game played in the right spirit

No joy for U/13′s

Added by Keith Long on 17th May, 2010 |

The U/13′s were recently involved in a Stax City of Salford Soccer League Group B Supplementary Cup Final with Pendlebury United JFC. The match was played at Ayreshire Road (Manchester United’s training ground) and United struggled throughout to contain their much stronger opponents. Despite taking a 1-0 lead United who were 2-1 down at half time eventually lost 5-3. Goalscorers were Shaun Ferguson, Reece Dalton and Remy Maxwell.

Runners-Up spot for U/14′s Tornados

Added by Keith Long on 17th May, 2010 |

In the Timperley and District Junior League the U/14′s Tornados ended their successful season with a 4-1 home win over Alderley Edge Nomads. After securing the three points Beechy were confirmed as runners-up in Division 4. A nervous looking United outfit had to work hard throughout the first half and they just about deserved to be 2-1 up at the interval. But in the second half they were more confident and some of their attacking play was quite stunning. The match included a personal triumph for Aaron Keenan who scored all four goals and also received the Man of the Match award.

U/15′s suffer Semi-Final defeat!

Added by Keith Long on 17th May, 2010 |

Beechfield United Under 15′s players were left feeling rather dejected after their Jubilee Cup semi-final against Bolton Lads & Girls Club. In an absorbing contest United produced an unexpected below par performance and suffered a 5-2 defeat.

United’s defence faced early pressure as Bolton Lads who had home advantage almost scored twice inside the opening six minutes. Gradually Beechy began to show more composure and created a few chances themselves but it was Bolton Lads who went ahead thanks to well taken goal by their versatile No 10.

During a scrappy period when far too many stoppages threatened to ruin the match United found an equalising goal when Tito Jorge met a Lyndon Schofield free kick and his powerful header from close range gave the keeper no chance. But three minutes later Bolton Lads regained the lead when United failed to deal with an in-swinging corner that led to a goalmouth scramble and somehow the ball bounced high into the roof of the net.

Early in the second half United were punished again for more woeful defending as Read more…
