Saturday Morning Senior Team (7/1/12 to 24/3/12)

The Saturday Morning Senior Team kicked-off the New Year with a comfortable 6-2 home win over Gorse Hill Athletic. As they dictated the pace of the game United produced some top-class attacking football and gave the Gorse Hill defence a torrid time. Wes Pierce set-up David Senigla who gave Beechy the lead and he quickly made it 2-0 following a brilliant run and pinpoint cross from Phil Heyworth. An injury to keeper Dan Lee forced him to retire and he was replaced by Wayne Davies who was beaten when Gorse Hill reduced the arrears close to half-time. In the second half United stepped up a gear and the result was never in doubt once Dean Quinn had netted the third goal. With his second goal Quinn made it 4-1 then central defender Chris Lucas added number five closely followed by substitute Mark Carney who scored the sixth goal. Gorse Hill managed to get another goal late in the contest. (7/1/12)

Bridgewater Office Supplies Manchester Football League (10/9/2011 to 15/10/2011)

Despite a below-par display Beechfield United’s 1st Team rediscovered the winning formula when they beat Hollinwood CC 4-1 away. On an old style 3G Astroturf Pitch the result was never in doubt because United dominated the match from start to finish. Mike Leach scored all four goal’s but with the chances on offer especially in the second half Beechy could easily have hit double figures. Tim Taylor, Tom Carroll and Steve Erskine all produced quality performances. (10/09/2011)

Trophy Winning Treble Still A Possibility

Beechfield United’s Saturday Morning Open Age Team added the CFFL Shield to their Manchester Saturday Morning League Second Division title following a 3-2 victory over Chadderton FC on Wednesday 27th April 2011. But United’s performance in the final was lethargic especially in the first half and according to Manager Graham Rothwell he will be hoping his team give a better display when they meet Manchester Medics in the final of the Manchester Evening News Cup on Saturday 7th May.

Saturday Morning Team Chase Trophy Treble

Beechfield United’s Saturday Morning Open Age Team have a great chance of winning three trophies in the Manchester Saturday Morning League. They currently lead the Second Division by eight points and are through to the semi-final’s of the Manchester Evening News Cup and the CFFL Shield.

In the first of three recent fixtures Beechy easily secured their spot in the MEN Cup semi-final’s thanks to an emphatic 9-1 win over Redvales and Warthfold Metro. The goals came via Phil Heyworth (3) Man of the Match Gareth Burns (2) Dean Quinn (2) Wes Pierce and Andy Lord.

Then Phil Heyworth achieved his second successive hat-trick when United beat Worsley Town 8-0 in the CFFL Shield. Also on target were Mike Heyworth (2) Dean King, Roy Owen and Wes Pierce. Throughout the contest United produced some brilliant attacking football on the 3G Astroturf Pitch at Salford Sports Village.

A narrow 1-0 victory against West Didsbury restored United as favourites for the Second Division title. On a poor pitch the match proved to be a scrappy affair but Beechy were always the better side and their winning goal arrived in the 26th minute courtesy of a superbly executed free kick by Dean Quinn.

Throughout the second half West Didsbury fought hard for an equaliser but they failed to create any clear-cut chances and simply ran out of ideas during the latter stages. United’s Man of the Match was Andy Lord.
