U/9s Storm cruise into Cup Semis
On Sunday 13th February 2011 Beechfield United Under 9s Storm booked their place in the Challenge Cup semi-final’s following an emphatic runaway victory in the quarter-final’s over Manchester Maccabi Lions.
On a heavy pitch and in blustery conditions at Beech Farm United played some outstanding football and raced into a 3-0 lead with two goals from Declan Nolan and one by Jaden Timmis. The good passing and movement off the ball continued and at half time United were 5-1 up.
The pattern of the match remained much the same in the second half as United dominated possession and looked likely to score with virtually every attack. Manchester Maccabi had no answer to United’s all-round ability and at the final whistle Beechy had secured their semi-final spot thanks to a 12-1 win.
The goals came courtesy of Jaden Timmis (3) Declan Nolan (2) Ben Barlow (2) Isaak Johanneson (2) Alex Hunter, Owen Hesketh and Mitchell Nolan. Team Manager Martin Belcher said after the match that the whole team contributed to a fantastic performance which was a pleasure to watch.

U9s Storm vs Urmston
This week saw us entertain Urmston after a slow start Declan got us going with a late run into the box to get on the end of a good cross from Jaden. Mitchell then added a second before Owen got on the scoresheet with a fiercely struck shot which the keeper did well to avoid! Urmston pulled a goal back with a good finish.
The second half saw some changes in positions but the same domination from Storm David scored with a neat finish after some great wing play by Owen. Mitchell got his second of the game after rising “Peter Crouch” style to head home, Isak added the sixth with a peach of a shot before Jaden finished of a good performance with a cool finish.
MOTM was Owen Hesketh.
U9s Storm v Swinton
Saturday saw us make the short trip to play Swinton. Beechy controlled the game from start to finish and raced into a two goal lead within 10 minutes with Declan Nolan netting twice. David Williams who enjoyed his best game since joining the team added a third before half time direct from a corner. Read more…
U9s Storm v Moorside Rangers
Storm started this game very slowly and didn’t trouble the Moorside keeper much in the first half despite some lovely passing. A much brighter start in the second half saw the Moorside resistance broken when Ben Barlow made a strong run then exchange a neat 1-2 with Owen Hesketh before sliding the ball home. Owen then took his tally to the season to 3 with 2 well taken and deserved goals. There were some good performances from goalkeeper Dylan Hilton and defenders Liam Wilson, Alex Hunter and motm Callum Denton.
U9s Storm v U9 Tornadoes
In a great advert for Beechfield football Storm drew their opening league game 1-1. In a opening period dominated by Storm they took an 1-0 lead when Owen Hesketh finished smartly after some neat footwork by Declan Nolan. After this goal Storm should have pressed home their advantage but some determined performances by the Tornado’s players saw them get back into the game and force a deserved equaliser by Lewis Potts. A great game to watch and hopefully the two teams can carry their performances on and fight for top spot! Motm was Mitchell Nolan
