Beechy archive – 2001-2002 season

Making his debut for the Under 15′s was Bradley Holland who got a hat-trick  in the Under 15′s 6-1 home victory over De La Salle. Other goals for Beechy in this Salford Junior Sunday League game came via Paul Hutchings (2) and Jamie Rowson. (Team Manager – Keith Bromiley) (11/11/2001)

There was an impressive debut for the Under 14s by full back Peter Bell. (30/9/2001)

On 9/2/2002 BUFC held their indoor 5-a-side Tournament at the Pendlebury Leisure Centre. The winning team who received the Mike Caldwell Trophy were Andrew Lord, Dean Quinn, Mike Allen, Taylor Heyes, Jay Paul and Gareth Ravenscroft plus Manager Les Paul. Runners-Up were Alex Walton, Jamie Howell, Paul Smith, Charlie Taylor, Charlie Mudd, Aiden Lawlor and Steven Seery plus Manager Jim Pilling.

Simon Cornwell made his first team debut and scored the opening goal in a midweek L&C League Division 2 game against Disley FC. Dave Cox got the other goal that gave United a 2-1 victory which guaranteed them promotion. Man of the Match was Richard Farnie. (17/4/2002)

Steven Seery scored a total of 46 goals in the Salford Junior Sunday League for the Under 10s. (Team Manager – Mike White)  Under 12′s Team Manager Andy Wilson watched his team give a quality display in the final of the Knockout-Cup but somehow go down 4-0 to Bury Juniors. Based on the World Cup a Mini-Tournament took place at Beech Farm on Sunday 21st July 2002. Included in the list of events were :- Ladies Penalty Shoot-Out Competition which was won by Pam Jenks.

In early August 2002 next season’s Under 15s enjoyed a four day trip to Holland where they played two friendly games against local opposition. Ryan Farrelly (2) Chris Seery, Jamie Howell and Kyle Rogers got the goals in a 5-5 with RVC Rijswijk. This was followed by a 4-2 victory over ASC Alkmaar thanks to goals by Farrelly (3) and Seery. Under 9s Winners – Bolton County Raiders R/U – Blackpool Rangers. Under10s Winners – Atherton Colleries R/U – Moston Juniors. Under 11s Winners – Stalybridge Celtic R/U – Bowerham Bombers. Under 12s Winners – Little Hulton Lads R/U – Little Moss Juniors. Under 13s Winners – Charlton Juniors R/U – Blackburn Eagles. Under 14s Winners – Trafford Juniors R/U – Beechfield United. Under 15s Winners – Moorside Rangers R/U – Urmston Town.

In the summer of 2002 former Beechy player Daniel Richard “Danny” Livesey started his professional career at Bolton Wanderers and made his league debut at the Reebok in a 3-2 defeat against Liverpool at the age of 17 (one of the youngest Premiership and Wanderers players ever). He only made one more league appearance and a couple of cup appearances, and joined Rochdale and Notts County on loan in 2003 and 2004, respectively. After this he joined Blackpool on loan, but in his debut he suffered a serious injury and returned to the Trotters.
