They were involved in a thrilling 1st Round tie away against Rossendale Youth which finished level at 3-3 following extra time. In a tense penalty shoot-out which United won 4-3 keeper Ben Jenks became the instant hero when he brilliantly saved two spot kicks. (1/10/2000) United had to travel again in Round 2 when they were drawn to play Chorley St Gregory’s.
