Mini & Junior Section Match Details (January/February 2012)

21st February, 2012 | Posted by Keith Long |

Due to the erratic british weather nearly all BUFC Mini/Junior Section teams have seen a bulk of their games postponed in January/February 2012 so night games at the end of the season are inevitable. On Saturday 7th January in the Stax City of Salford Soccer League the Under 10s Storm lost 3-0 away at Cherrybrook while United’s Under 12s Hurricanes enjoyed a 5-2 home win over Salford Victoria. No Sunday games were played. A week later the U/8s Storm, U/8s Tornados, U/10s Thunder, U/12s Predators and the U/13s Hurricanes all suffered defeats but in the Challenge Cup there were wins for the U/9s Storm who beat Leigh RMI 9-1, U/10s Hurricanes were 2-1 winners over Manchester Maccabi Broughton and the U/12s Storm won 4-0 against Beechy Predators. In the Timperley and District Junior League the U/14s Tornados narrowly beat Timperley Villa Tigers 1-0 on 15/1/12. The only games that went ahead on Saturday 21st January involved the U/9s Storm, U/12s Predators and U/12s Hurricanes who all lost. Twenty four hours later Beechy U/10s Hurricanes travelled to play South Manchester Tigers and came back with a 2-1 victory while the U/14s Tornados drew 1-1 at Urmston Town Tigers. Some pitches were playable on the 28th & 29th January and the teams in action were the U/7s Storm, U/11s Hurricanes, U/12s Storm, U/12s Predators, U/13s Hurricanes, U/12s Sunday team, U/14s Tornados & U/16s. Heavy snow arrived during the first weekend in February and only one game was completed. The U/10s Thunder suffered an 8-3 away defeat to Manchester Maccabi Broughton. Thanks to an improvement in the weather the U/8s Tornados, U/9s Tornados, U/12s Sunday team plus the U/14s Tornados managed to play during the weekend of 11th/12th February. The majority of the Mini-Soccer and Junior teams played on 18th & 19th February. Both the U/9s Storm (won 4-2) and U/11s Tornados (won 5-1) produced superb performances.
