U/15′s suffer Semi-Final defeat!

Beechfield United Under 15′s players were left feeling rather dejected after their Jubilee Cup semi-final against Bolton Lads & Girls Club. In an absorbing contest United produced an unexpected below par performance and suffered a 5-2 defeat.

United’s defence faced early pressure as Bolton Lads who had home advantage almost scored twice inside the opening six minutes. Gradually Beechy began to show more composure and created a few chances themselves but it was Bolton Lads who went ahead thanks to well taken goal by their versatile No 10.

During a scrappy period when far too many stoppages threatened to ruin the match United found an equalising goal when Tito Jorge met a Lyndon Schofield free kick and his powerful header from close range gave the keeper no chance. But three minutes later Bolton Lads regained the lead when United failed to deal with an in-swinging corner that led to a goalmouth scramble and somehow the ball bounced high into the roof of the net.

Early in the second half United were punished again for more woeful defending as Bolton Lads enjoyed the luxury of a 5-1 lead after scoring three goals in a seven minute spell. Briefly United made a brave attempt to reduce the arrears and Jordan Broome’s superb individual goal gave them a glimmer of hope but Bolton Lads remained in control and were able to secure a comfortable victory. Man of the Match was Hakim Rezgui.
